Games and learning MOOC … but when?

Constance Steinkuehler and Kurt Squire at the University of Wisconsin are offering a free online course, titled More than a High Score: Videogames and Learning. It should be an excellent course, since this husband-wife team literally wrote the book on Games, Learning, and Society. I have signed up and look forward to participating.

The course will be a MOOC (massively open online course) offered through Coursera. No credit will be awarded, but participants can receive a “Statement of Accomplishment.”

It’s not clear when the course will actually start. Wisconsin’s press release says two of their four courses will begin in fall 2013, but the Coursera website says January 2014. Unfortunately, no date is listed for this specific course.
