Google apps for iOS
Google now has separate iOS apps for Docs and Sheets, with a Slides app pending. Previously, all files were accessed through the Drive app. I installed this duo on my iPad, and I don’t immediately see a lot of benefit. Much of the functionality is the same, but you can create and edit new files offline. One advantage is that when you open either of the new apps you see a list of the last files you edited – helpful if you have lots of files.
The Drive app is expected to become a place to view and organize – but not edit – files. Some folks see this change as a reaction to Microsoft’s recent release of the Office for iPad tools. What do you think?
