Psych scholars to work on Wikipedia
Last weekend the 25,000 members of the Association for Psychological Science (APS) were issued a call — “clean up Wikipedia!” Well, at least as far as the 5500 psychology-related articles go.
APS is calling on its Members to support the Association’s mission to deploy the power of Wikipedia to represent scientific psychology as fully and as accurately as possible and thereby to promote the free teaching of psychology worldwide. (APS Wikipedia Initiative)
In a bold move, the Association has created a web portal that matches volunteers with similar interests and provides software designed to help create sophisticated content. This could be an anomaly, or perhaps signal the beginning of a change in attitude toward the world’s most popular reference tool.
