A New Year, A New Semester and New Courses

Concourse (Blackboard Vista) course links can be centrally managed many ways. Here at Notre Dame we leave the links visible to Instructors for 4 years.

For students however, we have the system set to automatically make their course links visible for the current term on the first day of classes for that term. This works pretty well even though sometimes it gets overwritten by our integration with our Registrar’s system, with the effect that for a few days students see many more links than just those of the current semester.

Occasionally I get asked by Instructors whether they can change that link visibility to give students access to material BEFORE the first day of classes. The answer is yes.
