  1. Sakai Open Academic Environment (June?) – version 3 of this open source alternative to Blackboard
  2. Electronic books – use of e-textbooks may get a boost from cheaper, prettier e-readers like the $249 Nook Color
  3. New slate computers (a.k.a. tablets) ought to excite some academics
  4. More browsers that support HTML5, like Firefox 4 and Internet Explorer 9 – how good is your current browser? try the HTML5 test
  5. New Google operating systems should open up avenues for development
    • HoneyComb for phones – a tablet-friendly version of Android
    • Chrome for computers – the only application is a web browser
  6. Lots of superphones – large screen, hi-res camera, and fast processor (1GHz+) like iPhone 4 and Google Nexus S
