Leveraging psychological keys for learning
This DICE 2010 presentation on the future of game design as gaming invades the real world is a must see. If marketers can use ‘games’ to sell us stuff, we really have to pay attention to how to reward learning behaviors in equally satisfying ways. (In fact Jesse Schell mentions an IU prof who has changed his grading scale to a gaming scale where students gain experience points (XP points) for various behaviors, and “level up” to new ranks. Results are amazing!).
