Defending quizzes on reading

Last Friday, Jason Jones wrote an excellent article on the “ProfHacker” blog: Quizzes in an Age of Course Management Software. Jones writes abut the benefits of using a system like our Concourse to give regular quizzes on required reading. Such quizzes, he writes, “help set the expectation that reading is to be done every single day.”

Lest we think his classes are superficial, Jason reassures us that he has “lots of assignments that reward creativity, rigorous analysis, brisk writing, and so forth.” I encourage you to read the full article.
