Apple iPad is released

January 27, 2010

Apple released their newest device today, the iPad.

A few first impressions:

  • The price point is very good (starting at $499)
  • The apps look pretty cool
  • The iBook store may kill the Amazon Kindle
  • It claims 10 hours of battery life
  • You can run it on wifi OR buy a data plan
  • The data plan is reasonable at $15-30/mo., with no contract required
  • There’s no camera
  • GPS only comes with a data connection
  • It runs one app at a time
  • It will be hard to wait until March!

Here’s a video of Steve Jobs introducing the device

Meh. No camera. No multitasking. 4×3 screen. $130 extra if you want the 3G option. Huge bezel.

All that and I kind of still want it.
