Posting grades with Excel in Concourse

December 1, 2009

It has been too long since I posted a Concourse* tip for Notre Dame faculty, so I thought I would share two “cheat sheets” I updated last August. Lots of faculty, especially those with large classes, find Concourse helpful as a way to post grades for students. Things they don’t like are 1) the Concourse interface is clumsy and 2) it’s hard to use formulas to do things like average grades. The quick answer to these problems is to enter the grades in an Excel spreadsheet and upload them to Concourse. Here are single-page instructions for two different audiences:

  1. NO-formulas version – just grades, no averaging or weighting
  2. Version WITH formulas – assumes you know how to enter formulas

* For folks beyond the Golden Dome, Concourse is Notre Dame’s flavor of Blackoard Vista, aka WebCT.
