Concourse Signup Sheets

October 21, 2009

The most common application of the “groups” feature in Concourse  is to assign students to a class project or working group. Within the system, you can restrict a group’s access to discussions, assignments, and documents. You can also use Concourse to create groups for offline activities.

The system can create randomized groups or the instructor can add students manually. But there’s a third option: a “signup sheet” where students choose their own group. Strategies for using signup sheets include picking an appointment time slot for meeting the prof and indicating interest in attending an event. Students can only choose one option on a signup sheet, but you can make as many different sheets as you want.

To learn how to create a signup sheet, visit the Concourse Tips and Tricks page at the Learning Technology Lab’s website.
