Technology at Amherst – by the numbers
For the second year, Peter Schilling has put together a list of numbers that show how the role of technology is changing at Amherst College. You can see the whole list at Academic Commons., but here are a few tidbits:
- Over four years the number of outgoing phone calls placed by employees dropped 25%
- 85% of new computers purchased for employees are laptops
- In the past year, 294 students registered iPhones or iPod Touches on the network (at the same per-student rate the number would be 2000 at Notre Dame).
I would love to see a similar list developed for our campus, especially with data on the technologies that are used in teaching and learning, like Concourse.
