iPad Irony

May 3, 2010

For nearly a week, I have been testing an iPad. I’m not ready to pronounce judgment, except to say that I am unhappy that it doesn’t support Flash. I want to remain calm, so I am NOT going to comment on Steve Jobs’ open letter on Flash. However, I will share an ironic image from the iPad.

Remember a few weeks ago I wrote about a video of Blackboard running on an iPad? Well, here’s the web page about the app, as seen on an iPad:

Here’s another one.

Pre-ordered the 3G 64GB model on March 25. Mine is currently sitting at the local Fedex facility, waiting to go out for delivery (it will be delivered by 3pm), currently 10:20 am local time. I called to see if I could just pick it up, but Fedex has an agreement with Apple to not allow pickup until after the first delivery attempt.

I think expecting Blackboard to be accommodating or current with any format is asking a bit too much.

Michael – Blackboard is advertising an iPad app on a page invisible to iPads. They must be current with iPad-friendly formats if they are creating iPad apps. That being said, the post was meant to be an example of the side effects of iPads not being able to use Flash.
